Emeron POS is a cloud-backed Point of Sale app. Your business data is stored locally on your device and synced securely to your own Google Drive account — we never access it, sell it, share it, or mine it.
1. Overview
Emeron POS ("the App," "we," "us," "our") is a Point of Sale and inventory management application built by Emeron Labs, based in Calicut, India. These practices apply to the Emeron POS Android application and any related services we operate.
By installing or using Emeron POS, you agree to the practices described here. If you don't agree, please don't use the app.
The short version: your business data belongs to you and is stored in your own Google Drive. Products, sales, orders, inventory, and categories are stored locally on your device and synced securely to your personal Google Drive account. We — Emeron Labs — never access, read, or store your business data on our servers. We cannot see it, and we never sell, share, or mine it.
2. Data We Collect
Emeron POS is designed with a data-minimalist philosophy. We draw a clear line between data that lives in your Google Drive and data that touches our infrastructure for operational reasons.
2.1 Your business data — stored in your Google Drive
The following data is stored locally on your device and synced exclusively to your own Google Drive account. Emeron Labs has no access to this data:
- Product catalog (names, barcodes, prices, stock counts, categories)
- Custom categories and emoji icons
- Sales records — invoices, line items, payment method, totals
- Orders — pending and completed, customer names, product breakdown
- Tax rates, discount values, and checkout configurations
2.2 Data we collect for app functionality
| What we collect | Why | Where it's stored |
|---|---|---|
| Google Account identity (via Google Sign-In) | To authenticate you and link your data to your Google Drive | Firebase Authentication — anonymised UID + email for account identification |
| Razorpay payment reference ID | To verify your Pro subscription payment and activate Pro features | Our payment backend — payment reference ID only, no card or bank details |
| App crash logs (anonymous) | To detect and fix bugs so the app remains stable | Firebase Crashlytics — no business data included |
| Anonymous usage analytics | To understand which features are used and improve the product | Firebase Analytics — no personal or business data |
We do not collect your products, sales, orders, or inventory data on our servers. We do not sell, share, or use your data for advertising. We never have access to your business data stored in your Google Drive.
3. Google Drive Sync & Storage
Emeron POS uses Google Drive to securely store and sync your business data. When you sign in to Emeron POS with your Google account, the app is authorised to read and write data to a dedicated app folder inside your personal Google Drive.
How this works:
- All business data (products, sales, orders, categories) is stored locally on your device first, then automatically synced to your Google Drive.
- The app folder in your Google Drive is private — only you and Emeron POS (when you are signed in) can access it.
- Emeron Labs employees and servers do not have access to your Google Drive or its contents at any time.
- If you revoke Google Drive access from your Google account settings, syncing stops immediately and your data remains on your device only.
- If you sign out of your Google account or clear the app, your cloud-synced data remains safely in your Google Drive and can be restored when you sign back in.
Google Drive access is governed by Google's Privacy Policy. We use only the minimum scopes required to read and write the Emeron POS app folder — we do not access any other files in your Drive.
4. Payment Processing (Emeron POS Pro)
Emeron POS Pro is an optional paid upgrade. Payments are securely processed through Razorpay, a PCI-DSS compliant payment gateway. We never see, store, or handle your full card number, CVV, bank account details, or any sensitive payment instrument information.
When you purchase Emeron POS Pro:
- Razorpay processes the payment securely on their platform — your card or UPI credentials never touch our servers.
- Razorpay sends us a payment reference ID confirming a successful transaction.
- We store only this reference ID alongside your anonymised Firebase UID to verify your Pro status on each app launch.
- Razorpay's data handling is governed by the Razorpay Privacy Policy.
- For refund requests, contact us at emeronlabs@gmail.com and we will process it in accordance with our refund policy.
5. Camera & Barcode Scanning
Emeron POS uses your device camera exclusively for barcode scanning. The camera is only accessed when you explicitly trigger a scan (e.g., scanning a product barcode while adding stock, or scanning during checkout).
- No images or video are ever captured, stored, or transmitted.
- Camera access ends immediately when you close the scanner.
- Barcode data (the scanned number/string) is used only to look up or pre-fill a product record locally.
You can revoke camera permission at any time in your device's Settings → Apps → Emeron POS → Permissions. Barcode scanning will be unavailable, but all other features continue to work.
6. Analytics & Crash Reporting
We use Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics (by Google) to understand app stability and feature usage. These services collect:
- Anonymous device identifiers (no name, no phone number, no email)
- App version, OS version, device model
- Screen views and button interactions (feature names only — no business data is logged)
- Crash stack traces (code paths only — no inventory or sales data is included)
Firebase Analytics data is governed by Google's Privacy Policy. We use this data solely to improve Emeron POS. We never use it for advertising or share it with third parties for marketing.
7. Your Rights & Control
You are always in control of your data:
- Delete local data: Uninstall the app or use Android Settings → Apps → Emeron POS → Clear Data. This clears the local device copy.
- Delete cloud data: Go to your Google Drive → Manage apps → Emeron POS → Delete all data. This permanently removes the synced data from your Drive.
- Revoke Google Drive access: Go to your Google Account → Security → Third-party apps with account access → Emeron POS → Remove access. Syncing stops immediately.
- Export your data: Use Settings → Export inside the app to download a local backup file.
- Revoke camera permission: Camera permission can be revoked at any time in system settings without affecting other features.
- Delete account (Pro users): Contact us at emeronlabs@gmail.com to request deletion of your subscription record and Firebase UID from our servers.
- Opt out of analytics: Some devices allow opting out of Firebase Analytics through Google's Ads Settings or your device's advertising ID reset option.
If you are in the EU, EEA, or UK and believe you have rights under GDPR, please contact us and we will respond within 30 days.
8. Data Retention
Business data in Google Drive (your products, sales, orders): Retained in your personal Google Drive until you delete it yourself. We cannot access or delete it on your behalf — it's your Drive.
Local device data: Retained on your device until you clear app data or uninstall. The Google Drive copy remains intact even after clearing local data.
Pro subscription record (Firebase UID + Razorpay reference ID): Retained as long as you hold an active Emeron POS Pro subscription, and deleted within 90 days of subscription expiry or upon request.
Crash logs and analytics: Retained by Firebase per Google's standard data retention schedule (typically 2 months for Crashlytics, 14 months for Analytics). These contain no personal or business data.
9. Children's Privacy
Emeron POS is a business tool intended for use by adults who operate retail businesses. It is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately and we will delete it.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated by:
- Updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
- Posting the revised policy at this URL.
- Displaying an in-app notice on next app launch where the change is significant.
Continued use of Emeron POS after the effective date of any updated policy constitutes your acceptance of the changes.
